Hi all, new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself.
I keep bees on the bray, greystones border. I'm also looking to join the roundwood society. When in September is the next meting?
Hi Seoirse.
Welcome to the forum. This is a great place to get info and learn about people with bees. I live in Greystones and keep bees about 2 miles from there. Have you been a beekeeper for long?
Hi Folks,
Anybody that has or is thinking of keeping bees I would strongly urge you to join your local society.
In our case for Roundood you can contact Brian on 0862491250 and he will give you details of membership and the costs.
This year we offered “Newbies” as well as the structured meetings we have, a hands on under hygenic guidelines for different site visits, as keeping bees is all about the practical and pooling of information.
If you wish to join us in, membership of Roundwood last year was €25 if you have bees (this provides your insurance policy for your hives) and €17 without and obviously membership of FIBKA.
Being a member you get access to 7-8 annual meetings our Library and lectures and as much advice guidance and experience as you can handle about all aspects of beekeeping from existing members with Tea/Coffee and Biscuits!
Personally this is only my fourth year into bees (6 hives on 2 sites)and 3rd year keeping them and we have a real mix of young, old, experienced and Novice members.
We try to structure our meetings on an open forum basis so everybody has an input rather than just sitting there listening for a couple of hours and ask as many questions as you like and importantly we are there to help and support new beekeepers and always on the end of a phone.
I wish any future beekeeper well in whichever society you join and if you would like to come along to Roundwood you would be made very welcome.
John

Hi Neil, first year. I have three hives at the minute and I'm taking over three more next week. Are you a member of roundwood?
